Hello, My name is Monika Kmieckowiak.

My aim as a therapist is to offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, thoughts, and feelings at your own pace.
I am a dedicated person-centred counsellor working in confidential settings. While my core approach is person-centred, I also integrate other therapeutic models when helpful, including Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I offer online and telephone counselling (Zoom/Teams) and work with adults and young people aged 12+.

I am an accredited Counselling for Depression Practitioner, with specialist training in supporting clients experiencing low mood, depression, and related difficulties.

I am skilled in active listening and work with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. My focus is on helping you discover your own strengths, develop autonomy, and move towards self-understanding and self-actualisation. I am committed to equality, welcoming clients of all backgrounds, identities, and personal characteristics so that you feel fully accepted and understood.

As a bilingual therapist, I work with both English- and Polish-speaking clients. This dual perspective gives me a deeper awareness of cultural differences and diversity, which often helps clients feel more at ease and truly seen.

I adhere to BACP guidance, and as an accredited counsellor I follow legal and ethical requirements, including safeguarding responsibilities. I work transparently, offering clear confidentiality agreements and explaining the circumstances in which confidentiality must be breached if you or others are at risk.

Before we begin our work together, I complete an assessment to understand your needs and presenting issues. This helps us develop a clear plan for therapy. I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of concerns, including:

  • self-harm; stress and anxiety

  • bereavement and loss

  • domestic abuse

  • suicidal thoughts

  • exploitation

  • radicalisation

  • eating disorders
